Alpha Grizbo: The Enraged Earth Alpha of Rosetower Woods

Alpha Grizbo is the Earth Alpha north of the Rosetower Woods Bloom, weak to Grass and Water. Here is the enrage fight and its gear-drop reward.

Alpha Grizbo is the Earth Alpha of Rosetower Woods — a self-modifying brawler whose rugged body hides a will even tougher than stone. Of all the Alphas, this is the one whose fight changes tempo mid-run, and the one whose repeat drops are actual gear.

Location

Go north of the Rosetower Woods Bloom — Grizbo defends the northern woods of the region. It roams in the open once you are in the right area, so this is a findable fight rather than a puzzle. The Rosetower Woods map guide has the regional layout.

Weaknesses and counters

Grizbo is Earth: it takes 1.6x from Grass and Water, and resists Fire, Lightning and Ice on defense. So the attackers you want are Grass and Water — and do not bother with Fire or Dark into this fight. The Type Chart guide lays out the rows.

The fight

  • Feral swipes and slams — the baseline combo. Wide and committed; sidestep rather than backpedal.
  • Enrage state — the tempo shift. Once it enrages, its speed and ferocity jump, and fights that were comfortable turn into scrambles. Save your burst for the enrage phase, not the opening.
  • Self-modifying bulk — the guard bar is thick and the health pool is deep. This is the longest standard Alpha fight on the list.

Bring Grass or Water DPS, a Break unit, and a Heal — and pack patience.

The team

  • Grass DPS — primary counter.
  • Water DPS — backup plus regional coverage.
  • Break — thick guard bar, mandatory.
  • Heal — the enrage phase is where teams fold.

The catch and the reward

Grizbo’s repeat drops are unusual: Heartseeker Pendant, Avenging Gear and Heritage Amulet — held-item gear rather than elemental stones — alongside the standard first-clear bundle of Glimmer x50, Safaris x500, Irisalis Petal x1, and Lumin Amber x1. That makes Grizbo a gear farm, not just a checkbox. Secure the capture window with an Aniipod Ultra or Sparkling Cube (100%); attempts cost 30 Primegy. Rules in the Capture Mechanics guide.

The field bonus

Grizbo matters outside the fight too: its hammering ability shatters the boulders blocking the underground routes to the deep Alphas, so a caught Grizbo is a key to later content. See the Boss Guides overview and the Gear and Equipment guide for what the dropped amulets and pendants actually do.
