Alpha Rookey: Aniimo's Dark Boss in Russet Highlands
Alpha Rookey is the Dark-type Alpha in Russet Highlands, weak to Wind and Light. Learn its location, its counters, and its Star Sand rewards.
Alpha Rookey is the Dark-type Alpha in Russet Highlands — a later-region boss whose rewards make it a farming target, not just a checkbox.
Location
East of the First Sight Sanctum in Russet Highlands. Russet is a higher-tier region, so level your team before making the trip; walking in underleveled means a long, frustrating fight.
Weaknesses and counters
Rookey is Dark, weak to Wind and Light (both 1.6x). Your Light starter counters it directly, and a Wind attacker is the backup. The catch: Dark resists Water and Wind on defense — wait, Wind is super-effective into Dark, so a Wind unit is fine on offense; just do not bring Water expecting damage. The Aniimo Type Chart lays out the rows.
The fight
Like all Alphas, Rookey is aggressive and hits hard. Bring a Break unit for the guard window and a Heal to survive its burst. If you are also working toward the Omega Infergon in this same region, a Dark-countering team pulls double duty.
The catch
Defeat, then a timed capture window. Secure with an Aniipod Ultra or Sparkling Cube (100%); standard pods are unreliable and each attempt costs 30 Primegy. Rule recap in the Aniimo Capture Mechanics guide.
The reward
Rookey is special: first clear pays Star Sand x2 and Star Dust x5 (instead of a stone), plus a larger Safaris bundle than most Alphas, alongside the standard Glimmer/Irisalis Petal/regional Lumin Amber. Star Sand and Star Dust feed Capability Awakening — the deeper progression system — so Rookey is a repeat-farm target once Infergon and the regional Journey are done.
Where it fits
Rookey is a late-game Alpha that doubles as an awakening-material farm. See Aniimo Boss Guides for the full Alpha/Omega picture, and Alpha Turbo / Alpha Luminelle for the other detailed write-ups.
