Battlefield 6 Attachment Unlocks: The Fastest Route to a Built Gun

How weapon mastery and the Pick 100 system work in Battlefield 6 — the fastest modes for gun XP, what to unlock first, and where boosters actually pay off.

Every gun in Battlefield 6 starts bare — no optic, no grip, no suppressor — and the only way out is weapon XP on that exact gun. Switch weapons and the counter resets. The system is simple once you see it, and some playlists pay two or three times better than others.

How it works

Each weapon has its own mastery track, separate from your career rank. The progress bar is Hardware XP, and it fills from kills, damage and assists as long as the gun you’re levelling is in your hands when the damage happens. Chip someone for most of their health and a teammate finishes them — you still get credit. You don’t need every kill.

Community tracking puts the milestones at roughly: level 10 for that gun’s weapon package, level 20 for most of the attachments plus a camo, level 40 for another camo, and level 50 for the top package and badge. For practical purposes, level 20 is the finish line — after that it’s mostly cosmetics.

Pick 100

Unlocking an attachment doesn’t mean you can run everything. Every gun gets 100 points and every attachment costs some of them — a red dot is cheap, a suppressor is mid, a top-tier grip is expensive. Slap the best of everything on and you’ll blow the budget instantly.

The rule: pick one job for the gun and spend toward it. If you’ve got 50 points sitting unused, the build is too generic and you’ll lose to someone who specialised.

Where to grind

Weapon XP is kills per minute, not hours played. Small infantry modes pay far better than big ones.

  1. King of the Hill — one shifting zone, everyone crammed into it, no downtime.
  2. Domination — same idea with three flags.
  3. Team Deathmatch / Squad Deathmatch — constant fights, short rounds.
  4. Breakthrough — objective-focused kills, decent rate.
  5. Conquest — the worst rate. Great for playing, bad for grinding.

Use Custom Search to lock the mode and map you want — see the modes overview.

What to unlock first

For nearly every gun, the same order works:

  1. Grip — recoil control is the foundation, and it’s cheap.
  2. Muzzle — brake/compensator for control, suppressor for staying off the minimap.
  3. Barrel — velocity and range.
  4. Magazine — sustained fights.
  5. Optic — suit it to your range.
  6. Ammo types — last, and situational.

Boosters, bots and Portal

  • Pop Hardware XP boosters inside a live match, never in the menu. The timer runs while you queue and fiddle with loadouts otherwise.
  • Verified Portal experiences with bot backfill still work for weapon levels and awkward challenges; Custom experiences mostly don’t. Full rules in the Portal guide.
  • Do the daily and weekly missions. They hand out boosters and career XP for very little effort.

The one mistake to avoid

Don’t jump between guns. Commit to one primary until you’ve unlocked the first four attachment categories — a built gun makes every future gun easier to level, because you’re not fighting the stock recoil any more. Once it’s at 20, move on.
