Battlefield 6 Blackwell Fields Map Guide: Season 1 California Combat

Fight Battlefield 6's Blackwell Fields—the Season 1 Southern California map, its layered space, key objectives, vehicle lanes, and attack-defense plans.

Blackwell Fields was Battlefield 6’s first Season 1 map, set in the Southern California countryside. It’s a vehicle-friendly mix of open land and scattered structures — a good middle ground between the cities and the giant valleys.

Mode fit

Plays well in Conquest and Breakthrough. The moderate scale means vehicles matter but infantry still owns the objectives. Keep a balanced squad that can both crew armor and clear buildings. See Conquest & Breakthrough tips.

Three layers of space

  • Air: decent headroom for helis and the occasional jet on the bigger variants. Bring MAA if aircraft start dominating.
  • Ground: open fields crossed by fences, barns, and roads. The sightlines are medium — long enough to pre-aim, short enough to flank.
  • Covered routes: the structures and treelines are where infantry survives the open ground.

Key objectives

Flags sit around the farmsteads and field centers. The central objectives bridge the map’s halves; the outer ones are easier but expose you to flank caps. Holding a structure-adjacent flag lets you project fire across the open ground.

Vehicle lanes

Armor runs the field roads, using barns and terrain as hull-down cover. IFVs ferry squads between flags — the best way to keep map control on a map this size. An Engineer screen is essential; a lone tank in the open is a free kill. The tank guide covers the angling that matters here.

Attacking

Leapfrog structure to structure using vehicles and beacons; don’t foot-march across the fields. Smoke your crossings and suppress with armor before infantry clears. Coordinate air to knock out enemy tanks.

Defending

Hold the structures, not the fields. A defender with a mounted gun and an Engineer on the armor lane is brutal to dislodge. Pre-aim the open approaches and let attackers bleed crossing them.

Blackwell Fields’ Season 1 sibling is Eastwood. For a bigger vehicle map, see Mirak Valley.

Class and loadout notes

As of Season 5, the safe default is Assault or Support for objective work, Engineer whenever armor is in play, and Recon where the sightlines favor marksmen. On vehicle maps force an Engineer into every squad; on infantry-only maps drop the repair habit and lean on Support revives. Build your gun with the attachment guide and confirm your role in the classes guide.
