Battlefield 6 Tank Guide: Angling, Shells, and APS Survival
How to survive and dominate in Battlefield 6 main battle tanks—hull-down angling, shell selection, APS timing, and the anti-vehicle counters that actually work.
The main battle tank is the scariest thing on any Battlefield 6 map until it isn’t. A good tank crew dictates the match; a bad one is a free 500 points for the enemy Engineer. Here’s how to be the former.
Know your ride
Both factions run a four-seat MBT: driver, gunner, and two rear hitch points. The driver runs the main cannon with primary and alternate shell types, plus a coaxial machine gun. The gunner gets their own station. Two bodies hanging off the back can repair or lay down small-arms fire — keep them alive.
Hull-down or go home
Tanks in this game are brutal up front and soft everywhere else. The single most important habit is angling: never show your flat side to an enemy gun. Present the front glacis at a shallow angle so rounds glance or hit your thickest plate. Use terrain — ridges, rubble, destroyed walls — to hide your lower hull. A tank poking its belly over a hill is a tank about to explode.
Shell selection
You’ll have at least two shell types. The default round is your all-rounder against armor and buildings. Save the specialized round (often a heavier anti-armor or splash type) for enemy tanks and IFVs. Don’t waste premium ammo on infantry — the coax MG and your gunner handle that. Switching under pressure is slow, so read the fight before you commit.
APS and countermeasures
Modern Battlefield tanks carry active protection that intercepts incoming rockets and shells — but it has a cooldown. Pop it reactively when you hear the lock tone, not on a timer. Once it’s down, you’re vulnerable: reposition immediately instead of sitting pretty.
Anti-vehicle counters
If you’re on foot against a tank, you are not powerless. Engineers with rockets and mines do the real work — hit the side or rear for extra damage, and pre-place mines on likely tank lanes. Recon C4 and laser designation turn a lone tank into a coordinated kill. As a tanker, respect the MAA and Engineer nests; don’t push a flag with no infantry screen.
