Battlefield 6 MK 24: Season 5's Headshot Assault Rifle Explained
The MK 24 is Battlefield 6's Season 5 assault rifle with a huge headshot multiplier and long-range punch. Build, unlock route and who it suits.
The MK 24 arrived with Season 5 (Siege of Vegas) on 13 October 2026 and immediately jumped to the top of the assault rifle pick charts. It’s a different beast from the rest of the class: slower, hungrier for headshots, and brutally effective on the long sightlines of the season’s new maps.
The numbers that matter
- 635 RPM, 20-round base magazine. Slower and smaller than the B36A4 or KORD. You are not winning close-range duels with this gun.
- Huge headshot multiplier. With Hollow Points it sits around 1.8x — land two headshots and the MK 24 kills faster than almost anything in the game, including the AK4D it’s constantly compared to.
- 556 m/s bullet velocity and an ADS time around a quarter second. Good, not snappy — this is a gun you pre-aim with, not one you snap around corners.
The catch: chest shots are not enough
Tier lists skip this part: on body shots, tracker data shows the MK 24 needs one more bullet than the AK4D at every range. It’s balanced around headshots:
- If you aim for the upper chest and hope, take the AK4D instead.
- If you reliably land two headshots per kill, the MK 24 is one of the strongest ARs in the game.
- It’s a skill cannon. Treat every magazine like it costs something.
Attachment direction
You’ve got 100 points, and the long-range build is the consensus:
- Muzzle: Lightened Suppressor. Off the minimap, and the recoil help is welcome at this fire rate.
- Barrel: 18” GBR. Velocity and control — the backbone of the build.
- Underbarrel: 6H64 Vertical. Keeps the recoil pattern tight enough for follow-up shots at distance.
- Ammunition: Hollow Points. Cheap and the entire reason the gun works.
- Magazine: 30RND. Worth the grind — see the unlock order below.
- Optic: Baker 3.00x for pure long-range work, or RO-M 1.75x for the “sniper support” role closer in.
Unlock route
As of Season 5, trackers report the MK 24 as a free reward around tier 11 of the Audacious Breach battle pass path; EA hadn’t published the full tier list, so treat the exact tier as unconfirmed. The weapon levels matter more:
- 25-round magazine at level 24, 30-round at level 40. Until then you’re running 20 rounds, which changes how you play.
- Hollow Points and the key barrel unlock in the level 8-to-34 range, so the build comes together gradually.
One quirk: the Underslung Mount was temporarily disabled in Update 2.1.1.0 to fix an “unintended interaction,” and wasn’t back as of mid-October.
Where it shines
- Area 51: the open desert sightlines are exactly what this gun wants.
- Vegas Strip: long street lanes and rooftop exchanges.
Who should run it
- Headshot-consistent players. If your crosshair naturally sits at head level, you’ll love this gun.
- Long-lane players who find the KORD 6P67 too soft and the B36A4 too short-legged.
- REDSEC players: it wasn’t among the 5.56 rifles that took an armor penalty past 46 meters in Update 2.1.1.0, so it holds up well against plated targets.
Skip it for close quarters — nothing about it is built for that. Full rankings in the best weapons guide.
