Battlefield 6 Z84M: Season 5's 100-Round LMG Bullet Hose
The Z84M is Battlefield 6's new Season 5 LMG — 100 rounds, high damage, heavy recoil. Here's how to control it, the attachment direction, and who should run it.
The Z84M came in with Season 5: Siege of Vegas, and it’s the most aggressive light machine gun Battlefield 6 has had. It’s free — Tier 11 on the Fate’s Reckoning battle pass path — and it plays less like a traditional support LMG and more like a bullet hose you push with.
What you’re signing up for
EA’s own description tells you everything: a 100-round box magazine, high damage, high rate of fire, built for close-range aggression — with significant recoil and handling costs. The last part is the whole gun.
- The firepower is real. High damage per round at a high rate of fire means anything in your cone melts. Groups of enemies are what this gun was made for.
- The recoil is the tax. Hold the trigger through the mag and the seventh round is drawing sky art. Keeping it controllable is the entire skill of the weapon.
- Handling is slow. You’re not winning a race to ADS against an SMG. Pre-aim and pick your moments.
Where it fits
- Best range: close to mid. Rooms, corridors, chokepoints, the approach to a flag.
- Bipod down at mid range: if you’re holding a lane and can deploy, sustained fire becomes much more stable — use cover and sandbags.
- Too far: past 40 metres you’re spraying at nothing. Take the DRS-IAR or the SG 553R instead.
- Best maps: the tight ones — Hagental Base, Empire State and Saints Quarter.
Controlling the beast
- Short bursts even up close. Five-to-eight-round bursts, then reassess. Yes, you have 100 rounds — you’ll still miss with all of them.
- Pre-aim everything. Corners, doorways, stairwells. With handling this slow, whoever’s on target first wins.
- Bipod for holding, hip-fire only for emergencies. Deploy when you’re defending an angle; stay mobile when you’re pushing.
- Reload early. A 100-round mag feels endless until it isn’t, and the reload is long.
Attachment direction
As of Season 5 the Z84M is too new for a settled build, but the priorities are obvious from its weaknesses:
- Muzzle: recoil-control brake or compensator first. Non-negotiable on a gun with this much climb.
- Underbarrel: vertical or ribbed grip to fight the pattern.
- Barrel: compact for pushing on infantry maps; longer only if you’re actually holding lanes with a bipod.
- Optic: 1x to 1.5x. You are not sniping with this.
Skip anything that trades recoil control for handling — you’ll feel every trade.
Who should run it
- Support players who hate sitting still. LMGs are the class weapon — see the classes guide — and this is the one that lets you push. The DRS-IAR and KTS100 MK8 are the passive alternatives.
- Objective defenders on chokepoint maps. A bipod’d Z84 on a staircase is a game of alone.
- Players with recoil discipline. If you spray everything, this gun will punish you into the ground.
