Exiled Survivors: Elemental Totem Boss Guide

The Elemental Totem summons adds until it dies in Exiled Survivors. Why it is always the priority target, and the build that handles spawns and boss.

The Elemental Totem is a summoner, and that single fact defines the entire fight. It spawns elementals until it dies — which means it is always the priority target in any group, and everything else in the encounter is a distraction.

The framework

Two rules carry this fight:

  • The totem is the fight. Every elemental on the field exists because the totem made it. Kill the source and the problem solves itself.
  • The spawns are the clock. The longer the totem stands, the more of the arena belongs to its adds. This is a damage race on the summoner, not a survival gauntlet against its army.

Exact spawn mechanics and phase counts are not fully documented — check in-game; the stage bosses guide has the encounter overview.

Positioning

  • Path to the totem, safely. Approach through cleared lanes rather than diving through spawns. The adds exist to block your route.
  • Clear only what blocks you. Chasing every elemental across the map gives the totem free time. Clear what stands between you and the source.
  • Burst the totem in windows. When the spawns thin out, commit everything. It does not get easier by waiting.

Build priorities

  • AoE plus single-target. You need both: single-target to actually kill the totem, AoE to keep a path open. Neither alone wins.
  • Movement Focus. Adds plus elemental projectiles is the combination that removes your safe floor — see the Focus passives guide.
  • A committed element with Focus tiers. Multi-element pressure punishes spread builds; the damage types guide explains why.
  • Sustain for the long middle; healing relics outperform a fifth damage source.

Common wipe causes

  • Chasing adds. The classic loss: players clear the arena beautifully while the totem spawns a replacement army.
  • Tunneling the totem through a wall of spawns. You take every projectile on the approach and arrive too late.
  • Low clear speed. If the spawns outpace your AoE, you never get a window at all.
  • No single-target damage. Clearing forever and never killing the source runs the clock out.

The one thing to remember

The Elemental Totem teaches the priority rule the entire endgame runs on: kill the summoner first, always. The Elemental Plane region repeats this lesson at scale, and the demon lords guide shows how far it carries.
