Exiled Survivors Arcanist Guide: Arcane Caster Build
How the Arcanist plays in Exiled Survivors — an arcane-leaning caster with build direction, Focus passive priorities, and what only the game can confirm.
The Arcanist is one of the 24 characters confirmed by name in Exiled Survivors’ game data. That is where the hard facts stop. The exact starting kit, stat growth and unlock condition are not fully documented — check in-game, so treat everything below as a read of the name plus how the skill system actually works.
What the name tells you (inference)
“Arcanist” puts this character in the caster bucket — the same group as Sorcerer, Wizard, Elementalist, BattleMage and JackOfAllTrades. “Arcane” is also one of the eight confirmed damage tags (Fire, Frost, Lightning, Nature, Poison, Bleeding, Curse, Arcane), so the reasonable inference is a magic-damage caster whose offers lean Arcane and Curse rather than steel. This is inference from naming and genre convention, not a documented fact.
Damage direction
Bias Arcane first. Curse second — curse lines are attrition damage that rewards long fights, which suits a caster killing from range. Full breakdown in the damage types guide.
Core skill combo
The game has three skill types — Automatic, Energy and Passive — plus Focus passives that scale in +/++/+++ tiers.
- Automatic core: one Arcane-family skill as your filler, backed by an Orb or Beam skill for range coverage.
- Energy skill: an energy Nova or Burst for when the horde reaches you. Novas are player-centered panic buttons, not main damage sources.
- Focus passives: stack the tiers that boost your chosen family. A strong automatic plus three matching Focus tiers beats five unfocused picks — that rule is explained in the focus passives guide.
Build direction
- Commit to one family by level five — the weighted offer pool keeps offering families your passives support.
- Take exactly one movement or defensive pick — casters die to contact, not to damage races.
- Keep an energy skill charged for elites — how energy builds and spends is covered in the energy skills guide.
- Gear direction: favor drops that boost your main family. Exact stat weights are not fully documented — check in-game.
Beginner-friendly?
Middle of the pack — easier than the placement-dependent Trapper, harder than Knight or Ranger because you manage range and energy at once.
How it differs from the other casters
Wizard is the generalist magic baseline; the Arcanist reads as the arcane specialist of the two. Elementalist splits across all four elemental tags, so it is more flexible and less focused. For more setups see the build compendium, and unlock routes in the character unlock guide.
