Rocket League Camera Settings: A Pro Baseline You Can Actually Tune

The camera settings that most high-rank players use, what each slider does, and a method to find your own numbers instead of blindly copying a pro. Current for Season 24.

Bad camera settings hide the ball and cripple your aerials. You do not need a pro’s exact numbers, but you need to understand what each slider does and start from a sane baseline. Here is both.

The pro baseline (a starting point, not gospel)

Most high-rank players cluster around these values. Use them as your first setup, then adjust one slider at a time:

  • Camera Distance: 260–280
  • Camera Height: 100–110
  • Camera Angle: −3 to −5
  • Field of View (FOV): 105–110
  • Camera Stiffness: 0.35–0.50
  • Camera Swivel Speed: 3–5
  • Camera Transition Speed: 1.1–1.4
  • Ball Camera: ON (almost always)

Higher distance and FOV let you see more of the field; lower stiffness makes the camera follow your car more loosely so it doesn’t whip around on every turn.

What each slider actually does

  • Distance / Height: how far and how high the camera sits behind the car. Too close and you cannot see the ball coming; too far and the car is a dot.
  • Angle: looks down more (negative) or up. Most players prefer a slight downward tilt to read bounces.
  • FOV: widens the visible area. Higher FOV = more spatial awareness, slightly smaller objects.
  • Stiffness: 0 = camera floats independently; 1 = camera is bolted to the car. Lower values feel smoother for aerials.
  • Transition Speed: how fast the camera snaps between ball cam and car cam. Too fast makes you dizzy; too slow and you miss the car.

How to find YOUR settings

Do not just copy a pro and quit. Tune like this:

  1. Start from the baseline above.
  2. In Free Play, hit the ball and watch. If you lose the ball behind the car, raise height or distance.
  3. If aerials feel disorienting, lower stiffness slightly and slow transition.
  4. Change one slider at a time, then play 5 minutes. Your muscle memory needs consistency, not perfection.

Controller vs keyboard

Season 24 added a Free Look Camera and modernized keyboard/mouse bindings, and new M/KB players get the updated defaults. If you are on M/KB, the same distance/FOV logic applies — just make sure your sensitivity isn’t so high you cannot track the ball.

The point: a good camera shows you the ball and your car at the same time. Once it does, stop fiddling and go play.
