Rocket League Rocket Pass Guide: Is Premium Worth It, and How to Level Fast

The Rocket Pass Premium costs Credits but pays itself back if you reach the late tiers. Here's how the pass works, how to level efficiently, and whether it's worth buying.

Every season brings a new Rocket Pass, and every season someone asks: is Premium worth it? Short answer: if you play regularly, yes. Here’s the system and how to get the most out of it.

How the pass works

  • Free track: everyone progresses it with XP. Occasional low-to-mid rarity items along the way.
  • Premium track: costs Credits (roughly a $10 purchase, as of Season 24) and unlocks an item at nearly every tier, plus painted versions of select items in the later Pro tiers.

Premium also gives you double the weekly challenges and permanent XP boosts — that’s where the real value hides: faster levels mean more items.

The credit payback (“infinity loop”)

Premium hands Credits back as you level, in chunks at intervals through the pass. Push deep enough — somewhere around tier 110 — and you’ll have earned back the entire cost.

So Premium isn’t really a purchase, it’s a loan the game repays if you play enough. Those returned Credits can buy next season’s pass. Veterans call it the infinity loop: one initial investment, and every future pass is free as long as you finish them.

If you’re casual, you won’t reach the payback tier, and the math looks worse. Premium is for people who log in weekly.

How to level fast

  • Challenges are the engine. Match XP alone is slow. Some season challenges are worth multiple tiers by themselves. The Challenges tab in the Rocket Pass menu shows what’s active — and remember to claim completed challenges, the XP doesn’t always collect itself.
  • Stack challenges. “Score 5 goals” and “Play 10 matches” finish in the same few casual matches.
  • Play in a party. Group play gives an XP bonus.
  • Casual is fine. Challenges don’t require ranked, and you can leave a lobby without penalty.
  • Play regularly, not in bursts. A few matches a day beats a six-hour Sunday you’ll pay for in tilt.

Buying late is fine

Buy Premium and you instantly unlock every premium reward up to your current tier. Already tier 60? You get all 60 tiers of items at once. There’s no penalty for waiting until you know you’ll finish — waiting is the smarter play if you’re unsure.

Season 24’s pass

As of Season 24, the pass leans into hitbox variety: the headline vehicles are the Volkswagen Golf GTI Edition 50 (Octane hitbox), the Dominus GT 76 (Dominus hitbox), and the Pareto 5S (Breakout hitbox), plus the usual pile of wheels, boosts, decals, and goal explosions with a street-racing theme.

Should you buy it?

  • Buy it if you play at least a few times a week and want a steady free-item pipeline.
  • Skip it if you play a couple of matches a month — the free track and free item sources are plenty.
  • Before buying, check the Item Shop rotation. If the pass has nothing you want, those Credits might be better spent elsewhere — see the Item Shop guide.

Bottom line: Premium is the best value in Rocket League’s economy if you finish it. Play the challenges, claim the XP, and let the pass pay for itself.
