Lost Ark Classes: What Every Advanced Class Actually Plays Like
Not a tier list — a playstyle map. Lost Ark's six archetypes and the advanced classes within them, described by how they feel to play, so you can pick a main you'll stick with.
Lost Ark has six advanced archetypes that branch into roughly 28 advanced classes, and most new players freeze at the selector. This is deliberately not a tier list — those shift every patch and a class you enjoy beats a class you resent. Here is what each archetype feels like, with representative classes.
Warrior — frontline bruisers and tanks
The melee backbone. Berserker is a big-swing berserker fantasy; Slayer is faster and more precise; Paladin is the iconic support-tank (shield, buffs, heals) that groups always want; Gunlancer is a shield-wall defender. Pick Warrior if you want to be in the enemy’s face with forgiving, telegraphed kits.
Martial Artist — fast, flashy, position-heavy
High-mobility melee with stance dancing. Striker and Wardancer are agile fighters; Scrapper is a bruiser; Soul Eater is a stylish dark-melee DPS. These reward good positioning and rotation more than raw stats.
Gunner — ranged firepower
The largest, most varied group. Gunslinger (pistols/rifle/shotgun stances) is mobile and skill-heavy; Sharpshooter is a bow ranger; Artillerist and Machinist bring turrets and big guns; Scouter is a newer rapid-fire DPS. If you want to delete things from range, Gunner has a flavor for you.
Mage — bursts and summons
Sorceress is the classic glass-cannon burst mage; Summoner brings pets and a companion; Arcanist uses a card system for flexible buffs/damage. Mages tend to be squishy but hit the hardest in short windows — great if you like timing burst.
Assassin — burst and deception
Shadowhunter (demon-form transformation), Deathblade (fast triple-blade), Reaper (teleporting assassin) — high-skill, high-reward melee that punishes mistimed dodges. For players who want to out-play, not out-tank.
Specialist — supports and summons
Bard is the premier healing/support (buffs + heals, always in demand); Artist is the other support (shield + heal); Summoner and others bring pet/summon mechanics. If you want guaranteed group invites, a support here is the safest pick.
The one universal truth
Supports (Paladin, Bard) are always needed. No matter the patch, raid groups need them, so a support main never struggles to find a party. DPS classes cycle in and out of favor, but supports are evergreen.
