THE FINALS Destruction Overhaul: How to Use the Season 12 Physics

Season 12 Prime Time rebuilt destruction — structures now break gradually, crack, and collapse from footsteps. Here is what changed, the new smoke/gas rules, and how to turn the arena into a weapon.

Destruction is THE FINALS’ signature, and Season 12 “Prime Time” (October 20, 2026) shipped the biggest destruction update since launch. It is no longer “wall intact or wall gone” — structures now fail in stages, and that changes how you fight. Here is what to know.

Gradual damage and cracking

Walls and floors now take gradual damage. Hits spawn cracks that spiderweb outward from the point of impact, and weakened sections can give way after footsteps or a rumble — not just from a direct explosion. A structure can collapse because people have been fighting on it, not because you blew it.

Debris has its own physics

When something breaks, the individual debris pieces keep their own physics. Part of a floor can swing from cables after the rest collapses; a chunk can become traversable ground or a hazard. This means the map reshapes itself mid-fight in ways that are readable if you pay attention — Embark added dust and creaking audio/visual cues that warn you when a structure is about to go.

Stronger chain reactions

Explosions now trigger stronger chain reactions. One well-placed blast or collapse can cascade into another, reshaping a whole building. This rewards players who read the arena and set up environmental kills — but it also means you can bring a ceiling down on your own team if you are careless.

Smoke and gas got smarter

Both smoke and poison gas now adapt to the changing geometry, no longer damage players through walls, and can be briefly cleared by an explosion. That fixes long-standing frustrations and makes the chaos feel deliberate rather than cheap. Use gas to flush, not to cheese through a wall.

How to use it

  • Make new lanes. Blow a wall to create a carry path or cut off a contesting team in Cashout.
  • Don’t stand on weak floors. If you see cracks, assume it can drop. Move.
  • Bait collapses. Fight near a damaged structure and let the enemy’s aggression bring it down on them.
  • Watch the cues. Dust and creaks are your early-warning system — respect them.

Mindset shift: in Season 12 the arena is more of a weapon than ever. The players who win are the ones who treat the map as a toolkit, not a backdrop.
