THE FINALS Infiltrator Counters Guide (Season 12)
THE FINALS Infiltrator counter guide: how to spot True Sight, Mimic Device disguises and Translocator plays, plus positioning habits that shut it down.
THE FINALS Infiltrator Counters Guide (Season 12)
The Infiltrator is the new Light playstyle in Season 12, built to make you paranoid: True Sight sees through your smoke, the Mimic Device turns enemies into furniture, and the Translocator drops them behind you from an angle you never checked. The kit counters itself — True Sight reveals disguised players — so mirror matches are symmetrical. Everything below is about exploiting the gaps it leaves.
Countering the Mimic Device
The disguise is strong, but it leaves tells:
- Placement tells. A prop sitting in the middle of an empty route, a canister on a rooftop with nothing around, a barrel that wasn’t there last rotation — suspicious. Learn what your arena normally looks like; the disguise only works if the prop belongs.
- Damage reveals it. Shooting a suspicious prop either damages an enemy or triggers the prop’s own effect — a healing barrel that suddenly heals, a canister that explodes. Cheap test: shoot anything questionable.
- Data Reshaper is the hard counter. The Medium gadget is specifically punishing to disguised players — if you suspect an Infiltrator nearby, it’s the answer. Keep it in mind when you’re picking Medium gadgets.
Positioning habit that beats most disguise plays: don’t camp a spot with a perfect sightline and nothing else, and keep your camera moving across likely prop locations instead of staring at one lane.
Countering the Translocator
The Translocator is only dangerous when the Infiltrator picks the landing spot — so make every landing spot bad:
- Watch the objects near your position. The gadget needs a markable object in range, so a clean, prop-free defense is a weak defense for the Translocator user. Don’t leave spare canisters, turrets or barrels lying around a Cashout you’re holding.
- Don’t tunnel on one door. If you’re holding a station and four players stare at the main entrance, a swap into a side prop walks right through you. Assign someone to watch flank geometry, always.
Countering True Sight
You can’t turn it off, but you can waste it:
- Smoke is no longer a guaranteed escape. True Sight sees through it, so a smoke cross in front of an Infiltrator is an announced rotation. Cross expecting to be seen, with a plan for the fight on the other side.
- It drains energy. A good Infiltrator manages the meter; a panicking one burns it in one push and then has nothing. If you see it pop early in a fight, that’s your window.
The mindset shift
The playstyle is built to make you chase ghosts, so don’t:
- Never abandon the Cashout to hunt a disguise. A prop that runs away is doing its job. Hold the objective and make the Infiltrator come to you.
- Sound is your friend. Season 12 rebuilt footstep audio with better spatial awareness — a disguised player still makes noise. Headphones plus the settings guide turns most ambushes into warnings.
- Check routes, not corners. The Infiltrator wants you staring at suspicious props while it rotates. Watch the paths between props instead.
For the offensive side, the Infiltrator guide covers the playstyle itself, and the Season 12 changes rundown covers the rest of Prime Time.
