THE FINALS Medium Healing Beam Guide (Season 12)

THE FINALS Healing Beam guide: how to support your team as Medium — positioning, beam discipline, revive priorities, and playing alongside DPS.

THE FINALS Medium Healing Beam Guide (Season 12)

The Medium build guide covers the class’s options. This one is about the support specialization that defines squad play: the Healing Beam. Every serious team wants one, and the gap between a good Healing Beam Medium and a great one is bigger than any weapon choice. Here’s what separates them.

What the Beam asks of you

Healing Beam restores a teammate’s health over time while you hold it on them. The catch: you’re anchored while healing, your own gun is holstered, and you’re the juiciest target on the map. The whole role is a positioning problem — how do you keep your DPS alive without becoming the first elimination.

Positioning rules

  • Heal from cover, never from the open. Your beam has range; use it. Peek out, top someone off, return to cover.
  • Stay behind the front line. If you can see the enemy, they can see you. The Beam’s job is to be the last one shot, not the first.
  • Angle for both. Position where you can heal your Heavy’s push and retreat if it fails. If your only exit is through the enemy, you’ll die there.
  • Use your own utility. Smoke breaks their target priority. Goo slows the push hunting you. Your gadgets are survival tools first.

Beam discipline

  • Pre-heal before fights. Topping off a teammate before an engagement beats clutch-healing mid-duel — you can’t out-heal focused damage, but you can prevent the fight from starting at half health.
  • Don’t tunnel. If your Heavy is at 40 and your Light is about to get flanked, the flank matters more. A dead Light is a flanked team.
  • Know when not to heal. If your teammate is going to die regardless, your beam is a wasted window — and a beacon. Sometimes the correct play is to shoot the enemy trying to finish them.

Revive priorities

  • Pair the Beam with a Defibrillator whenever your team needs one; the instant revive changes round outcomes more than any amount of healing.
  • Revive during smoke, during a Mesh hold, during any window your team creates. Never revive into a lane the enemy is actively holding.
  • Communicate. “Beaming you, stay in cover” turns a passive Medium into a force multiplier.

Playing with DPS

  • Follow your fragger, don’t lead them. Your Light wants to flank; your job is to make the flank survivable, not to flank with them.
  • Protect the Heavy’s hold. A Mesh or anchor Heavy with a Beam behind them is the strongest defensive unit in the game — see the Mesh Shield guide.
  • Accept being a priority target. Good enemies hunt you first; every second they spend shooting you instead of your DPS is the Beam working as intended.

Bottom line

The Healing Beam is the highest-leverage specialization in THE FINALS when played with discipline. Stay alive, stay behind, heal on your team’s terms — and let the enemy waste their attention on you while your squad does the work.
