THE FINALS Movement Tech (Season 12)

THE FINALS movement tech guide: slide-cancel, bunny-hop, grapple cancel, dash, jump pad goo, Gateway, and Vanish Bomb tricks to outplay enemies.

THE FINALS Movement Tech (Season 12)

THE FINALS isn’t a game you win by standing still. The best players are constantly repositioning, and most of that comes from tech you can learn in an afternoon on the Practice Range. Here’s what actually matters.

Slide-cancel into jump

Slide, then jump the instant you crouch to cancel the slide recovery. You keep most of your speed and can chain it into a jump. This is the bread-and-butter for Lights and Mediums who want to be annoying to hit.

Bunny-hop

Tap jump on landing to keep momentum without losing speed to the ground. Easier with a high framerate. Combine with slide-cancel and you basically never slow down.

Grapple cancel

Heavy’s Grapple pulls you fast, but you can cancel the pull with a jump or dash to redirect mid-flight. Use it to reach rooftops other classes can’t.

Dash

Light’s Dash is both an escape and a gap closer. Dash through a doorway, dash across a sightline. It also resets your slide, so Dash → slide → jump is a full mobility loop.

Jump Pad + Goo

Drop a Jump Pad, then spray Goo to make a ramp or wall. You can launch teammates (or yourself) onto rooftops and into windows the enemy didn’t expect. Heavy’s Charge N Slam loves a Jump Pad launch too.

Gateway

Light’s Gateway places two portals. Use it to flank, to bail out of a fight, or to teleport your whole team onto the cashout. One of the highest-skill gadgets in the game.

Vanish Bomb

The Vanish Bomb briefly cloaks you and nearby teammates. Pop it while reviving a teammate in the open, or to walk past a fight you don’t want.

None of this replaces aim, but it buys you the fights you want and skips the ones you don’t. Light mains should read the Light build guide, Heavies the Heavy guide, and melee players the melee guide. New here? Start with the beginner guide.

Practice order matters. Learn slide-cancel and bunny-hop first — they work on every class. Then add Dash and Gateway if you main Light, Grapple cancel if you main Heavy. The Practice Range lets you drill these with no enemies around, so spend ten minutes a day and the muscle memory shows up in real matches.
