THE FINALS P90 Guide (Season 12)
The P90 is what happens when a Medium wants to play Light. High rate of fire, huge magazine, and a time-to-kill that deletes people before they finish their first burst. It’s rated in the upper tiers of the Medium class as of Season 12, and it’s a genuine alternative to the AKM-FCAR duopoly if your playstyle leans aggressive.
What it is
A Medium-build submachine gun with a very high rate of fire and a magazine that keeps up with it. The P90’s identity is sustained close-range DPS — it’s the Medium weapon that can actually contest a Light’s close-range game instead of politely losing to it.
Engagement range
- Sweet spot: 5 to 20 meters. Inside that window, the P90’s DPS is genuinely frightening — Lights don’t win straight trades against it, and even Heavies have to respect it.
- It falls off hard. Past 25 meters your damage drops and the recoil makes itself known. Hold mid-range with your positioning, not your spray.
- Hip-fire is your friend. Like the XP-54, you keep meaningful move speed while firing from the hip, which matters when you’re pushing a Cashout instead of holding an angle.
Attachment ideas
Everything serves the close-range role:
- Recoil control first — a gun this fast climbs quickly, and damping the pattern lets you keep a whole mag on one target.
- Mag size and reload speed both matter. You burn ammo fast; whichever stat keeps you in the fight longer, take it.
- Skip range optics entirely. If you’re aiming down sights at 40 meters with a P90, you picked the wrong gun for the fight.
Pros and cons
Why it’s a top-tier Medium pick:
- Best-in-class close-range DPS for Medium — the answer to “what do I do about that Light?”
- Big magazine means you can fight two or three targets without reloading
- Forgiving: high RPM partially compensates for imperfect tracking
- Aggressive Mediums finally have a gun that matches their pace
What holds it back:
- Ammo consumption is brutal. Dry mag mid-fight and you’re a sitting duck
- Useless past mid-range — you can’t hold lanes like an AKM
- Loud and committed: once you push with a P90, there’s no quietly backing out
Who should run it
Mediums who push. The classic pairing is the Heal Support style build — AKM or P90, Healing Beam, Defibrillator, Jump Pad, Goo Grenade — but with the P90 as your chosen primary, you’re signaling that you intend to win fights, not just enable them. It also suits dematerializer-style flankers who cut a new angle and need to delete whoever’s standing in it immediately.
If you find the P90 too committed, the AKM is the calmer lane-holding alternative, and the FCAR sits in between. Full loadout ideas are in the Medium build guide, and the Season 12 meta overview shows where it ranks right now.
